How does hypnotherapy work?
Let’s think of your brain as a computer and all of the experiences in your life as bits of data. Sometimes those bits of data get stuck, particularly when there’s been a disturbing thought or experience. My job is to “reboot” your mind so you are fully updated. By engaging the emotional mind and eliminating the ongoing influence from painful past thoughts and/or events, blocked energy is released, healing takes place, and change is automatic. Blocked energy is released. Healing takes place. Desired change is automatic and lasting.
Can I be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxed, undistracted focus. You are likely to remain fully aware, but deeply relaxed. “Peaceful” and “clear” are two ways people often describe their experience.
Hypnosis is considered a trance state of awareness. Luckily, this part is the easy part. You enter trance states regularly, a few examples are: when you are watching a movie, when you are driving or doing things on “autopilot,” when you are daydreaming, and when you are in deep conversation.
What should I talk about in my therapy session?
Sometimes people see me because they would like to improve the way they experience life in terms of emotionally, or thought wise, some people want to change or improve behaviors, some people want to lose feelings of resentment or guilt, some people want to lose the troubling effect that prior experiences have had on the way people feel or react to things. If we could make adjustments that would make a significant and beneficial difference in your life, what would we pick up to do?
How many sessions will I need?
When will I notice the Results?
Hypnosis is like a garden, together we plant the seeds that shift the soil, grow new roots, and bathe in the sunshine of that we plant during our sessions together.
Some seeds will begin to sprout during your first Hypnosis session. You will notice the shift immediately. Others sprout in the hours that follow, and still more in the days and weeks after our session.
Does Hypnosis Work?
According to American Health Magazines which compared PsychoAnalysis, Behavioral Therapy and Hypnosis, a whopping 93% of people recovered after only 6 Hypnosis sessions, while Behavioral therapy worked for 72% after 22 sessions. Lastly, there was a 38% recovery rate for those who underwent 600 sessions of Psycho Analysis.
Children and Hypnosis
Hypnosis is part of a process that will allow your child to access and use their innate ability to learn through imagination and play. That everyday play is similar to what occurs in hypnosis in regards to play being focused attention turned inwards. Children regularly enter trance states when they are playing, as a parent, I am sure you have noticed when a child is so involved in their imaginary world that they do not even hear you when you call them to dinner. That trance and self hypnosis is part of the everyday life for children and it is something that they do, not something that is done to them. The process is felt more vividly when the child is actively using their imagination and so they are in charge of their experience. We will use their active imagination as a resource to promote behavioral changes and healing.
Parental Involvement in Child Sessions
Every therapy session I have with children in middle school and younger, I ask for the parent to be present. This is because I have found it most useful when the parent is a part of the healing session. Being present for our therapy session provides Parents with the tools and training to help your child use what is learned and practiced in our sessions, and to reinforce skills throughout the week.
